Dale Saunders

Oct. 29, 1942 — Dec. 29, 2015

Dale Garrett Saunders, 73, of Ironton, went to be with our Lord on Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2015. Dale was born on Oct. 29, 1942, son of the late Ralph and Mildred Saunders. He was a loving husband to Margie Sheridan Saunders for almost 30 years until her death in 2006. Dale was preceded in death by his sister, Nina Saunders; and his three brothers, Glenn, Don, and Bernard Saunders. Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Nick and Mary Beth Weber along with their children Max, Ava, Mia and Rex; and also by his son and daughter-in-law, David and Catie Saunders along with their son, Peter. Other survivors include brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews.

Dale was a loving and hard working husband, father, Pap and friend. He was a 40 year Mason and Past Master of Lawrence Lodge 198 F and AM, a Third Degree Knight of Columbus Bishop Watterson Council 1405, a member of Saint Joseph Church, the bereavement choir, the Saint Joseph Men’s choir, the Ironton Elks and will sorely be missed by his friends at Winters’ Farm on Sunday and his Euchre partners at the Elks.

Mass of Christian burial will be at noon on Saturday at Saint Joseph Church, officiated by Fr. John Noe and Fr. David Huffman. Visitation will be from 10 a.m.-noon. Masonic Rites will begin at 9:30 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations are appreciated to The Ironton Catholic Schools or Saint Joseph Church.

 

Aline Smith

Aug. 20, 1949 — Dec. 29, 2015

Aline (Tolliver) Smith, 66, of Ironton, died Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2015, at Ashland Community Hospice of Ashland. She was born in Harlan Co. Kentucky on Aug. 20, 1949, to the late Quinten and Magnolia Sexton Tolliver. She was the wife for 50 years of Tom Smith Sr. She attended Sharon Baptist Church and retired from J. Tech Telecommunications. She was preceded in death by one sister, Mildred Matney. Survivors included one daughter, Trina (Norman) Handley; one son, Tom (Rebecca) Smith Jr.; grandchildren, Brittney Castle, Justen Handley, Adam Smith, Caleb Smith, Isaiah Walker, Tom Smith III and Zachariah Smith; great-grandchild, Lydia Castle; one sister, Betty Mulkey; three brothers, Robert Tolliver, Ronnie Tolliver and Michael Cron. Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Monday at O’Keefe-Baker Funeral Home with Aaron Fields officiating. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Haverhill Cemetery. Donations can be made to the funeral home to help with services.

 

Dorothy Carrico

Dorothy Carrico, 83, of South Point, died Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2015, at Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital, Ashland, Kentucky. Arrangements are pending at Tracy Brammer-Monroe Funeral Home, Ironton.

 

Betty Jo Chafin

Betty Jo Chafin, 61, of Huntington, West Virginia, died Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2015, at St. Mary’s Medical Center, Huntington, West Virginia. She is survived by her husband, Jerry Chafin.
