PROCTORVILLE — Coach Jon Buchanan was happy with the 79 points. He was even happier with the 41 points.

The Fairland Lady Dragons played well on both ends of the court as they routed the Gallipolis Blue Angels 79-41 on Monday in an Ohio Valley Conference game.

“Defensively in the second half we held them to 16 points, so I was pretty happy with the way we guarded them,” said Buchanan.

(Gallipolis) did a good job hit some shots in the first half.”

The Lady Dragons (8-1, 5-1) had four players in doubled figures led by Emily Chapman with 13 points and Kelsie Warnock and Taylor Perry with 12 each. Alesha Simpson added 10 points.

Hunter Copley, Carly Shriver and Adrienne Jenkins scored 8 points each for Gallipolis (1-5, 1-4).

The Lady Dragons made 14 of their 3-point attempts led by Morgan Fridley who made three shots from behind the arc.

“We shot the ball pretty well. We didn’t have a great percentage, but we took a lot of shots,” said Buchanan.

Warnock had 9 points including a pair of triples in the first quarter as Fairland went up 19-12. Caldwell scored 4 points for Gallipolis.

Chapman had 8 of her points in the second quarter to offset 5 points by Shriver as the Lady Dragons stretched the lead to 38-25 at the half.

The defense stiffened in the third quarter as Allie Marshall scored 5 points and Fairland outscored Gallipolis for a 58-34 cushion.

Fridley hit all of her 3-pointers in the fourth quarter.

In Thursday’s league games, Fairland hosts Chesapeake while Gallipolis entertains Portsmouth.
