JACKSON — A Proctorville man has been sentenced to prison for possessing heroin and tampering with evidence.
Daniel Bookwalter pled guilty to the charges, each a felony of the third degree, in October, according to a news release from the Jackson County prosecuting attorney.
Bookwalter was arrested in December 2013, after police said they discovered, through use of a search canine, heroin in his vehicle and on his person following a traffic stop for speeding on U.S. 35 in Jackson.
Judge Christopher Regan sentenced him to a prison term of four years. Upon completion of his sentence, he will be subject to three years of post-release control.
Bookwalter has been incarcerated in the Chillicothe Correctional Institution.
