Dragons fall to Indians

CHESAPEAKE — What a difference 24 hours can make.

After shooting 56 percent at Portsmouth on Friday, the Fairland Dragons were just 30 percent from the floor on Saturday night as they lost 53-47 to the Lucasville Valley Indians in the annual Beast of the Southeast Classic.

Kollin Van Horn had a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds to pace the Dragons (7-2). Gunner Short scored 14 points.

Brian Rolfe led Valley with 27 points including three 3-pointers and 12-of-17 from the foul line. Blake Howard added 12 points and Bryce Romanello had 11 rebounds for the Indians (8-2).

Short scored 8 points in the first quarter to give the Dragons a 13-8 lead.

But the Indians got within 28-27 at the half and Rolfe scored 17 points in the second half as Valley outscored the Dragons 26-19 including 17-5 in the third quarter as they took a 44-33 lead.

Fairland hosts Gallipolis on Tuesday in an Ohio Valley Conference game.
