GALLIPOLIS — A little leadership can go a long way.

Senior Bailey Mills scored 8 clutch points as the Chesapeake Lady Panthers beat the Gallipolis Blue Angels 47-35 in an Ohio Valley Conference on Monday.

“It was good to see Bailey Mills have a nice productive game. She’s one of our leaders. She hit two big 3s in the fourth quarter that kept Gallipolis from coming back on us,” said Chesapeake coach Chris Ball.

Kaylee Curry had 12 points, 11 rebounds and 3 steals to lead the Lady Panthers (10-3, 5-3). Natalee Hall had 10 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists, Jozy Jones 9 points, 5 rebounds and 4 steals, and Brooke Webb added 3 blocked shots.

Jalea Caldwell scored 11 points for Gallipolis (2-10, 2-7).

Curry and Jones scored 6 points each in the first quarter as Chesapeake took a 16-6 lead.

Caldwell had 4 points in the second quarter as Gallipolis got within 23-14 at the half.

Adrienne Jenkins scored 5 of her 9 points in the third quarter as the Blue Angels cut the deficit to 30-28.

“We just couldn’t hit. We missed a lot of bunnies (close-range shots),” said Ball.

But Miller hit a pair of 3-pointers, Hall connected on 4-of-4 from the foul line and Webb had 4 points in the fourth quarter as Chesapeake pulled away to the win.

On Thursday, Chesapeake hosts South Point and Gallipolis entertains Rock Hill in league games.
