SOUTH POINT — Maybe they’re not the “Fab Five,” but the South Point Lady Pointers’ starting five are certainly a Productive Five.

South Point’s starters accounted for 51 of the Lady Pointers total in a 58-39 Ohio Valley Conference win over the Coal Grove Lady Hornets on Monday.

Haley Rawlins and Brooklyn Badgett scored 14 points each and Kate Mundy had 12 points to lead the Lady Pointers (7-5, 4-4).

Kaylee Beals had a game-high 20 points for Coal Grove (3-10, 1-7).

South Point didn’t take long to get started as all five starters scored in taking a 17-6 lead. Badgett had 5 points, Mundy 4, Olivia Abner 3, Rawlins hit a 3-pointer and Leah Lawson added 2 points.

Beals had all of the Lady Hornets’ points.

Each team scored 9 points in the second quarter and it was 26-15 at the half. Badgett scored 5 points including a 3-pointer while Beals had 4 points for Coal Grove.

Mundy and Lawson had 4 points each in the third quarter while Beals scored 7 points and Destiny Dolen 4 for the Lady Hornets and it was 40-28.

In the fourth quarter, Rawlins scored 9 points including a trifecta and a pair of foul shots as South Point doubled up the Lady Hornets 18-9.

Kasey Murphy was 4-of-6 at the line and Beals hit a 3-pointer for Coal Grove.

On Thursday, South Point visits Chesapeake and Coal Grove hosts Portsmouth in OVC games.
