Tri-State Hoops, Young Classic feature top teams

The weather is expected to be cold on Saturday, so stay inside.

Inside a gym, that is.

Fans can spend the day inside watching some of the best high school girls’ and boys’ basketball teams on Saturday.

Fairland High School will be the site of the annual Tri-State Hoops Classic. Admission is $8 for adults and $5 for students who will be treated to five varsity games and two middle school contests.

Here is the schedule:

10 a.m. — Fairland vs. Gallipolis 7th grade

11:15 a.m. — Fairland vs. Gallipolis 8th grade

1 p.m. — Nelsonville-York vs. Cabell Midland

2:45 p.m. — South Webster vs. Spring Valley

4:30 p.m. — Alexander vs. Huntington High

6:15 p.m. — Wheelersburg vs. Boyd County

8 p.m. — Fairland vs. Ashland

Two local team — Chesapeake and Fairland — will be part of a boys’ shootout as they play in the annual Coach Young Classic at North Adams High School on Saturday.

Admisssion is $8 and a hand stamp will allow fans to come and go during the day’s events.

There will be six boys’ games plus one girls’ contest. Here is the schedule: 10:00 a.m. — New Boston vs. Manchester

11:45 a.m. — South Webster vs. Western Latham

1:30 p.m. — Waverly vs. West Union

3:15 p.m. — Eastern Pike vs. North Adams (girls)

5:00 p.m. — Fairland vs. Eastern Brown

6:45 p.m.— Chesapeake vs. Lucasville Valley

8:45 p.m. — Oak Hill vs. North Adams
