Ironton Little League

sets registration dates

The Ironton Little League will be conducting registration for boys’ and girls’ leagues aged 4-and-up for the upcoming baseball and softball seasons.

Registrations will be held at the following dates, times and locations:

Saturday, Jan. 30, 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Ironton Middle School; Thursday, Feb. 11, 4:30-to-7:30 p.m. at the Ironton Middle School; Thursday, Feb. 25, 5-to-8 p.m. at Wendy’s, Fourth and Center Streets.

Registrants’ will be required to provide proof of age (birth certificate) and three proof of residency if the child does not attend a school within league boundaries.

Other dates of interest:

March 5 tryouts for minor league and above); March 7 make-up tryouts; March 8 draft (minor league and above); March 12 practices begin; April 9 Opening Day.

 

 

Ironton Hall of Fame

induction on Saturday

The Ironton High School Athletic Hall of Fame induction festivities will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday in the cafeteria. Doors open at 7 p.m.

Tickets are $15 each or $25 per couple. For further information, contact the high school athletic department at (740) 532-5235.

There is a special rate for fans who attend the girls’ basketball game and attend the Hall of Fame dinner.

The girls’ jayvees play at 2:15 p.m. followed by the varsity against Alexander at 3:45 p.m.

This year’s honorees are: Dr. John Wolfe, Jermon Jackson, Dennis Gagai, Kristen Kavanaugh and Dr. James J. “Jimmy” Payne.
