Booker, Turner spark Female Flyers to comeback win

WEST PORTSMOUTH — The St. Joseph Female Flyers dynamic duo came to the rescue.

Trailing after three quarters, Lynsey Booker and Morgan Turner combined for 14 points in the fourth quarter to rally the Female Flyers to a 51-48 win over the Portsmouth West Lady Senators on Wednesday.

“It was a nice win. They had some big girls who were hard to stop inside,” said St. Joseph coach Nick Miller.

“Booker and Turner had big games for us but everyone stepped up and contributed something.”

Booker finished with 23 points, eight rebounds, four assists and five steals while Turner had 19 points, four steals and two assists for St. Joseph (8-11).

Alyson Johnson hit two baskets to start the game as St. Joseph took a 4-0 lead but West (2-17) rallied to take a 14-8 lead.

Turner then scored eight points in the second quarter including a basket at the buzzer while Booker added four points to give St. Joseph a 20-18 halftime lead.

Madison Williams scored 10 points in the third quarter as West rallied to take a 36-34 lead. Booker had 12 points in the quarter for St. Joseph.

But Turner scored nine points and Booker added five as St. Joseph outscored West 17-12 to get the win.

St. Joseph hosts Rock Hill at 5 p.m. on Saturday.
