COAL GROVE — Now that’s how a senior should celebrate senior night.

Coal Grove’s lone senior Kaylee Beals celebrated her final home game with 21 points, five steals, six steals and five assists — all game high totals — as the Lady Hornets rolled past the Rose Hill Christian Lady Royals 76-40 on Saturday.

“(Beals) has really came on this year and helped us out tremendously,” said Coal Grove coach Rick Roach.

Coal Grove (9-12) also got 15 points from Lauren Crum and 12 from Emily Compliment as all 10 Lady Hornets scored.

“It is always good to get everyone in and score in a varsity game,” said Roach. “Crum had a great game scoring especially in the first quarter that got us going.

“Compliment put in her points as usual. She has had a tremendous year being consistent for us. We have progressively matured over the year and I can’t say enough about how proud that makes me as a coach.”

Coal Grove jumped out to a 19-10 first quarter lead as Crum scored eight points and Beals seven. Destiny Dolen added a 3-pointer.

The Lady Hornets built a 41-21 halftime cushion as Compliment scored eight points and Beals added five points in the second quarter.

Coal Grove blew the game wide open in the third quarter by outscoring Rose Hill 23-11 to lead 64-32.

Beals hit a trifecta as she scored nine points in the scoring outburst.

Rose Hill (6-15) was led by Sarah Sizemore, Natalie Fyffe and Baylee Trimble with nine points each.

Coal Grove will play Portsmouth at 6:15 p.m. on Wednesday in the Division III sectional tournament at Rock Hill.
