This might be the only time in Lynsey Booker’s life that she doesn’t mind being more than 40.

Booker scored a career-high 42 points to lead the St. Joseph Female Flyers to a 76-48 win over the Grace Christian Lady Soldiers on Monday.

The St. Joseph senior made 19-of-30 field goal attempts including both 3-point goal attempts to amass her point total.

“She got hot and was knocking down jump shots from all over the court. It was a big night. I’ve never had a player score that many points in a game,” said Female Flyers’ coach Nick Miller.

The Female Flyers (9-13) also got a big game from Morgan Turner who had a double-double with 19 points and 10 assists. She also had five steals.

Lauren Bush had seven rebounds, Booker six and Megan Riley five. Alyson Johnson had five assists and three steals.

The Lady Soldiers (8-8) were led by Shelby Cicenas who had 29 points. Rachel Tanner added 12 points.

Cicenas had six points as the Soldiers took a 10-2 lead to start the game. But with Booker scored 10 points, the Female Flyers rallied to take an 18-12 lead.

Turner and Booker scored eight points each as St. Joseph pulled away to a 38-18 halftime lead.

Booker continued to hold the hot hand as she scored 14 points in the third quarter and the lead ballooned to 54-26.

“The kids were very unselfish and they found her for the open shot,” said Miller.

Each team scored 22 points in the fourth quarter. Booker had 10 more points while Cincenas had 12 points and Tanner 10. The Lady Soldiers hit four 3-pointers in the quarter.

St. Joseph plays Miller in the Division IV sectional tournament at 6:15 p.m. Wednesday at Meigs High School.
