ROCKSPRINGS — Lynsey Booker wasn’t ready to end her career.

With the St. Joseph Female Flyers trailing in the fourth quarter, Booker went to work and along with help from Morgan Turner rallied the team to a 41-37 win over the Miller Lady Falcons on Wednesday in the Division IV sectional tournament.

“We had a good start and then we just couldn’t do anything,” said St. Joseph coach Nick Miller.

“But then in the fourth quarter the switch just flipped back on. Lynsey and Morgan made some big plays for us down the stretched that helped us win.”

Booker — a senior — scored 29 points on 9-of-17 shooting to go with five rebounds, two steals and an assist. She also reached a personal milestone as she eclipsed the 1,000-point career scoring mark.

Turner added nine points while Megan Riley hauled down 12 rebounds and Alyson Johnson grabbed 10 rebounds.

Sanae Dutiel had 13 points and 11 rebounds while Lacey Alexander had 10 points and seven steals to lead Miller (4-19).

“Miller was scrappy and they played hard,” said coach Miller.

Ashley Bartram scored the first basket of the game and St. Joseph went on a 13-4 first quarter run with Booker scoring 11 points.

Her layup at the 1:23 mark put her over the 1,000-point career scoring mark.

The wheels came off at that point as St. Joseph scored just four points in the second but still led 17-13 at the half.

Miller went on a 13-0 run over a 6:40 stretch from the third to fourth quarters to lead 29-21 with 5:56 to play.

Trailing 33-27 with 3:17 to go, St. Joseph began its comeback and took a 34-33 lead on two foul shots by Turner with 1:44 on the clock.

Turner scored seven points in the comeback.

Booker — who had 12 points in the fourth quarter — made it 40-34 on two free throws with 15.3 seconds left.

Dutiel made a 3-pointer with three seconds left to set the final score.

St. Joseph plays Eastern Meigs at 1 p.m. on Saturday in the sectional finals at Meigs High School.
