William Hartley

Feb. 19, 1945 — Feb. 10, 2016

William “Bill” D. Hartley, 70, of Ironton, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 10, 2016, at St. Mary’s Medical Center Ironton Campus. Mr. Hartley was born in Ironton, on Feb. 19, 1945, a son to the late Shade and Minnie Mae (Hanshaw) Hartley. He is survived by his wife of 49 years Rita Dickess Hartley, whom he married July 2.

Bill was a graduate of Dawson-Bryant High School. He was owner and operator of Hartley Plumbing and Bill’s Sewer & Drain Cleaning for over 40 years. He was licensed by the state of Ohio as a plumber. He also was a certified plumbing inspector and certified backflow tester. Bill was Past Master and a 50-year member of South Point Masonic Lodge F&AM 497, and a member of South Point Order of the Eastern Star 404. Bill attended First United Methodist Church in Ashland.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Ruby Hartley; and two brothers, Harold and Donald Hartley.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, DeNeil Hartley (Paul Hartwig), of Kitts Hill, and Becky Jo (Darren) Mullins, of Washington Court House; two grandsons, William Owen Mullins and Benjamin Mason Mullins, both of Washington Court House; six sisters, Rosella Haney, of Ashland, Hazel Vanover, of Ironton, Maxine Rauch, of Marietta, Yvonne Wheeler, of South Point, Garnet Worthington, of Ironton, and Carol Adkins, of Ironton; and brother, Clifford Hartley, of Millersburg.

Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. today at the Tracy Brammer-Monroe Funeral Home. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. John Street and the Rev.
