ROCKSPRINGS — The St. Joseph Flyers had two choices: go through the motions or put their offense in motion.

They chose the latter.

Down seven points at the half, the Flyers stormed back in the second half to outscore Federal Hocking by 20 points as they posted a 63-50 Division IV sectional tournament win on Tuesday.

“The kids decided to be more aggressive in the second half and it got us rolling offensively,” said Flyers’ coach Kevin Sheridan.

The Flyers (5-14) will play top-seeded Trimble at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday at Meigs High School in the sectional finals.

Chase Walters led the Flyers with a game-high 29 points including 17-of-18 from the foul line. Tyler Ward added 10 points.

Jared Hawk had 14 points and A.J. Cobb 10 to lead Federal Hocking (4-18).

St. Joseph decided to pound the ball inside in the second half as they kept finding Walters who scored 18 of his points with 10 of those points coming at the foul line.

The Flyer outscored the Lancers 16-13 in the third quarter to cut the deficit to 46-42. Walters scored 11 points — he was 5-of-5 at the foul line — while Zac McGraw added a 3-pointer.

Walters scored seven points in the fourth quarter including 5-of-6 at the foul line while Clay Willis scored all six of his points as the Flyers outscored the Lancers 21-4.

St. Joseph was 11-of-14 at the foul line in the quarter.

The Lancers led 14-13 at the end of the first quarter. Walters had five points in the quarter.

Federal Hocking pulled away to a 33-26 lead at the half as Hawks scored seven points and Randy Lantz had all six of his points.
