Fred Neville

Nov. 4, 1936 — Feb. 19, 2016

Fred J. Neville Jr., 79, of Ironton, passed away Feb. 19, 2016, at Cabell Huntington Hospital. He was born in Clifton Forge, Virginia, on Nov. 4, 1936, a son of the late Lavetta Morgan and Fred Neville, Sr. Mr. Neville is survived by his wife of 55 years, Lela Galliher Neville

Mr. Neville was a retired director of the Ashland YMCA and former teacher and basketball coach at Rock Hill. He was a 1954 graduate of St. Joseph High School and Marshall University in 1961. He was also a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Ironton Elks 177 and the Ironton Country Club.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Neville was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Jane Witt; and a brother, John Neville.

In addition to his wife, Fred is survived by, three daughters, Vicky (John) Mathis, Leigh Ann (Joe) Waginger and Kathy Riley; six grandchildren, Natalie (Nick) Erlenwein, Jamie Mathis, Ryan and Tommy Waginger, Megan and Tanner Riley; two great-grandchildren, Troy and Evelyn Erlenwein; a sister, Judi Rice; three sisters-in-law, Vicky (David) Beatty, Billy (Ron) Rapczynski and Pam Neville; a brother-in-law, Jerry Kinzer; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral mass will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Lawrence O’Toole Catholic Church with Fr. David Huffman officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. today at the Tracy Brammer-Monroe Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Tommy and Ryan Waginger, Tanner Riley, Nick Erlenwein, Fred Lavender and Gary Lutz.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Lawrence Catholic Church or St. Joseph High School, 905 S. Fifth St., Ironton, Ohio 45638.

Pete Sherman

July 6, 1945 — Feb. 19, 2016

Pete Sherman, 70, of Ironton, passed away Friday, Feb. 19, 2016, with his family by his side at his residence. The Ironton native was born July 6, 1945, the son of the late Stewart Sherman and Ethel Sherman.

Mr. Sherman attended Dawson-Bryant schools and went on to became a laborer. Pete was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to his parents, Pete was preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn Sherman; and a son, Kenny Sherman.

He is survived by two sons, John (Tina) Sherman and Brandon Sherman, both of Coal Grove; three daughters, Donna (Tom) Jones, of South Shore, Kentucky, Pam (OJ) Owens, of Coal Grove, and Tammy (Trent) Whitt, of Summit, Kentucky; 11 grandchildren, Josh Donley, Shane Marshall, Angel Marshall, Nate Sullivan, Stewart Sherman, Jacob Owens, Joey Sherman, Matt Jones, Destiny Jones, Tommy Jones and Emma Sherman; and four great-grandchildren, Evan Sherman, Ella Mae Sherman, Shylin Sherman and Addyson Jones.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Phillips Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Ice Creek Cemetery. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. To offer condolences to the family, please visit phillipsfuneralhome.net

Berchard J. Kerns, 62, of Pedro, died Sunday, Feb. 21, 2016, at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Ironton. Arrangements are pending at Brown Funeral Chapel.
