Chesapeake church to take part in Harvest America
CHESAPEAKE — A Lawrence County church will be taking part in a global evangelistic event next month.
Chesapeake United Methodist is inviting the public to come for Harvest America, which will be streamed at the church on March 6.
The annual national event, originating from Dallas, Texas, will feature popular Christian recording artists and a gospel message by pastor Greg Laurie of Harvest Christian Fellowship in Riverside, California and Harvest Orange County in Irvine, California. Featured musicians will include Chris Tomlin, Lecrae, Switchfoot and Mercy Me.
Lauire has hosted large scale Harvest Crusades since 1990.
The Rev. Charles Case, of Chesapeake United Methodist, said the church will host a chicken dinner prior to the event at 5:45 p.m. Pre event music will begin at 6:30 p.m. and the main event is set for 7 p.m.
“It’s a national and global event,” Case said. The purpose is to spread the Gospel to those in person, and to those watching in churches and living rooms.”
Harvest USA began in 2012. Case said his church has participated once before, in 2014.“We are thrilled to invite our community to be blessed by “Harvest America” again this year,” Case said. “Pastor Greg communicates very clearly and effectively and I know his message will be a blessing to all around the world who participate.”
