Melinda Cosby

Dec. 8, 1965-Feb. 26, 2016

Melinda Carey Cosby died on Feb. 26, 2016, at University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington after a long illness.

Melinda is the daughter of Rebecca Carey and the late Jerry D. Carey of Ironton. She is the wife of Aaron Cosby and the mother of three children, Anastasia, Zyler and Meleigha. Melinda has one sister, Angela Birch and two brothers, J.D. and Mike Carey.

Melinda graduated from Ironton High School, class of 1984. She was a majorette and field commander.

A private funeral service will be in Lexington at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home on Wednesday.

 

Frances Moore

Dec. 1, 1933—Feb. 27, 2016

Frances Alene Moore, 82, of Ironton, passed away Saturday, Feb. 27, 2016, at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland. The North Wilkesboro, North Carolina native was born Dec. 1, 1933, a daughter of the late Raymond L. and Bessie Wyatt Jennings. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Wilson E. Moore, who passed away Feb. 2, 2012.

Mrs. Moore attended school in Millers Creek, North Carolina. She was a former housekeeper at Jo Lin Health Center, retiring in 1999 and attended the City Mission Church in Ironton and the Jeffersonville Missionary Baptist Church in Coal Grove.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Libby Corrina Jennings, Barbara Kay Jennings and Eleanor Rice; and a brother, Raymond L. Jennings.

She is survived by two daughters, Patricia Moore and Louann Moore, both of Coal Grove; two sons, Jim (Karen) Moore, of Coal Grove and John (Charmie) Moore of Kitts Hill; a sister, Dolly Borders, of Ironton; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two step grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; and three step-great-great-grandchildren; and a special caregiver, Janet Hanshaw of Deering.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Phillips Funeral Home with the Rev. Roger Pierce officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery and visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Gary Runyon, Bill Runyon, Bud Runyon, Eric Bruce, Tim Brown, Luke Wheeler and honorary pallbearers will be Isaac Osborne, Justin Ross and Shawn Ross. Rose Malone

July 23, 1925—Feb. 27, 2016

Rose Marie Malone, 90, of South Point, passed away Saturday, Feb. 27, 2016, at the King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland. The South Point native was born July 23, 1925, a daughter of the late John and Thursa Elizabeth Pennington Webb. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Malcom Eugene “Gene” Malone, whom she married June 29, 1940 and passed away January 25, 1998.

Mrs. Malone attended South Point Schools and was a homemaker. She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Ashland and lived all her life in South Point.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by son, Bill Malone; eight brothers, Tom Webb, Morton Webb, Allen Webb, Wayne Webb, Glenn Webb, Virgil Webb, Foster Webb and Jesse Webb; and four sisters, Hattie Trent, Alice McComas, Vera Webb and Nellie Spence.

She is survived by two sons, Stan Malone, of South Point and Robert L. (Anita) Malone, of Forestdale; a daughter, Diana G. (Dale) McCall, of Burlington, North Carolina; 10 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and 11 great- great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Tracy Brammer-Monroe Funeral Home with pastor Anthony L. Kelley officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Gardens and visitation will be from, 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Kevin Malone, Steve Malone, Dean McCall, Tim Malone, Rob Malone, Brian Malone, Chris Malone, Brent Ellis and Mike Carmen. Garold Callicoat

Garold L. Callicoat, 88, of Pokadotte, died Sunday, Feb. 28, 2016, at home. Funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville. Charles A. Banks Jr., 75, of Dayton, formerly of Ironton, died Sunday, Feb. 28, 2016, at his home. Arrangements are pending.

 

Freddie Edwards

Freddie M. Edwards, 87, of Huntington, died Saturday, Feb. 27, 2016, at St. Mary’s Medical Center. He is survived by his wife, Martha L. Edwards. Arrangements are pending at Hall Funeral Home.

 

Lucille Locey

Lucille Shafer Locey, 91, of Proctorville, died Friday, Feb. 26, 2016, at the Hospice House of Huntington. Funeral was Monday at Hall Funeral Home. Burial was in Perkins Ridge Cemetery. Arrangements were by Hall Funeral Home.

 

Richard Judy

Richard P. Judy, 88, died Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2016, at Woodlands Retirement Community in Huntington.
