Rhonda Lewis

Feb. 10, 1954—March 13, 2016

Rhonda M. “Taz” Lewis, 62, of Ironton, passed away Sunday, March 13, 2016, at her residence. The Lawrence County native was born Feb. 10, 1954, a daughter of the late Lloyd and Willie Marie Blevins Messenger. She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Bobby Joe Lewis, whom she married Dec. 25, 1971.

Mrs. Lewis attended Ironton High School, was a homemaker and a former member of the Ironton Moose.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Tee Jay Lewis; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Joseph Thomas Lewis and Alma Lewis; and her sister-in-law, Josie Thibodaux.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Joey (Christina) Lewis, of Portsmouth; three grandchildren, Amanda Lewis, Amber Lewis, and  J.W. Lewis; a sister, Donna Workman, of Kitts Hill; two nieces, Misty (Avery) Bryant, of Coal Grove and Amy Casey, of Kitts Hill; eight great nieces and nephews; a brother-in-law, Albert (Ruth) Lewis, of Michigan; and a sister-in-law, Alma Jean Angel, of Columbus.

The Lewis family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m. today at Phillips Funeral Home.  We will meet in Hecla Cemetery at 11 a.m. Wednesday for a graveside service with the Rev. Richard Carter officiating.  To offer condolences to the Lewis family, please visit www.phillipsfuneralhome.net.

 

Naolmi Hager

Naolmi Hager, 79, of Huntington, died Thursday, March 10, 2016, at home. Funeral service will be conducted 7 p.m. Wednesday at Apostolic Life Cathedral Church, Huntington. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at the church.

Private family burial will follow at Rome Cemetery, Proctorville.

Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville, is assisting the family with arrangements.

Pamela Rice

Pamela Marie Rice, 57, of Huntington, died Saturday, March 12, 2016, at Cabell Huntington Hospital, Huntington, WV.

She is survived by her husband, Raymond Rice, Jr.

There will be no services.

Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville is assisting the family with arrangements.

 

Terry Layne

June 17, 1958—March 11, 2016

Terry Lee Layne, 57, of Pedro, passed away Friday, March 11, 2016 at his residence in Pedro. The Ironton native was born June 17, 1958, the son of the late John R. and Faye Stamper Layne.

Mr. Layne is a 1976 graduate of Rock Hill Schools. Terry was a former employee of Tipton’s in Ironton and was on the Audit Team at Sam’s Club in Burlington. He was a member of Decatur Missionary Baptist Church in Pedro.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, John and Anna Layne, John Stamper and Bertha Stamper; brothers, Richard Layne and John Layne; and brother in-law, Sammy Birchfield.

He is survived by sisters, Sandy Birchfield, of Fayetteville, North Carolina, and Brenda (Terry) Craft, of Pedro; nieces, Robin Delawder, Julia Birchfield Rauser, Noel Maddox, Nicole Leslie, and Nada Ferguson; and nephew, Johnny Layne.

He is also survived by many great-nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Phillips Funeral Home with pastor Darrell Fowler and pastor Brian Phillips officiating. Burial will follow at Puckett Cemetery.  The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 11a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Naomi Mitchell

Naomi Bell Mitchell, 87, of Proctorville, died Sunday, March 13, 2016, at River’s Bend Health Care Center, South Point.

Funeral service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville. Burial will follow in Miller Memorial Gardens, Miller, Ohio.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
