George Legg

Dec. 17, 1931 — March 17, 2016

George Allen Legg, 84, of South Point, passed away Thursday, March 17, 2016, at the Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Kentucky. The Lawrence County native was born Dec. 17, 1931, a son of the late Ralph and Geraldine Davidson Legg.

Mr. Legg attended Ironton High School and was a U.S. Army Veteran. He was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy and a former employee for the New Drum Industries in Columbus for 10 years.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Clifford Kuhn Jr.; and two brothers, William Legg and David Legg.

He is survived by two daughters, Summer Kuhn and Jami Kuhn, both of Ironton; a brother, Robert Legg, of Ironton; three sisters, Louise Whaley and June Holbrook, both of South Point, and Barbara Winslow, of California; four grandchildren, James Allen Blevins, Brandy Leigh Osborn, Cathlene Renea Blevins and Christina Ann Kuhn; 12 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Phillips Funeral Home, Ironton, with pastor Darren Adams officiating. Burial will follow in Mamre Cemetery with military graveside rites by V.F.W. Lowell Rowe, Jr.

Dec. 21, 1955 — March 16, 2016

Lowell E. Rowe, Jr., 60, of Kitts Hill, passed away suddenly Wednesday, March 16, 2016, at King’s Daughters Medical Center, Ashland, Kentucky. He was born Dec. 21, 1955, in Dayton, the son of the late Sr. Master Sgt. Lowell (Jim) Rowe and Anna Evelyn Harper Rowe, of Kitts Hill. He was the grandson of the late Alvin and Daisy Harper and Robert and Jennie Mae Rowe, all of Lawrence County. Lowell was a 1973 graduate of Dover High School, Dover, Delaware. He, along with his father, was active in the Middle Co. Assist Team, a volunteer organization of CB/Ham Radio operators dedicated to public safety and emergency communications. He also worked at Magnum Electric and was a member of Mamre Baptist Church. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Ellen Y. and Thomas Witten of Chesterfield, Virginia; two nephews, Pfc. James Tanner Rush and wife, Mary, of Colorado Springs, Colorado and Chase Rush, of Dover, Delaware; four aunts, Mary Myers, of Columbus, Glenna Harper, of Ironton and Wilma Moore and Helen McIntyre, of Kitts Hill; and many cousins.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Slack and Wallace Funeral Home, South Point, with pastor Ryan McKee officiating. Burial will follow at Oakland Cemetery Kitts Hill.
