SOUTH POINT — New businesses and expansion to existing companies are expected to bring many new jobs to The Point in 2016.

Dr. Bill Dingus, the executive director of the Lawrence Economic Development Corporation said projections are on track for 200 new jobs to be added at the industrial park.

He said two new businesses, one which tests steel for large tanks, and an industrial supply company, are expected to bring 20 and 14 to 17 jobs, respectively. The rest will come from expansions by the companies currently operating at The Point, where 700 are employed.

“It’s only March, so this is going to be a great year for us, I think,” Dingus said.
