Wanda Bennett

July 2, 1934 — March 18, 2016

Wanda Lenore Bennett, 81, of Springfield, passed away Friday, March 18, 2016, in Springfield Regional Medical Center. She was born July 2, 1934, in Hanging Rock, the daughter of Raymond and Nellie (Morgan) Wagner.

She had attended both Bible Baptist Church and Victory Baptist Church. Wanda worked at Robbins and Myers for five years before retiring from GNC after twenty-five years of service. She loved her family and spending time with them. She was an avid Elvis fan, loved watching the Cincinnati Reds and enjoyed maintaining an impressive flower garden. Survivors include two daughters, Wanda (Bennett) Malloris and Donna (Bennett) (Steve) Schubert; two sons, James (Cindy) Bennett Jr. and David (Andrea) Bennett; sister, Jo Ann Wagner; 12 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, James L. Bennett; daughter, Eleanor (Bennett) Woodley; sister, Laura Rose Wagner; and brother, Raymond Wagner Jr.

A gathering of family and friends will be from 1-2 p.m. Friday in the Littleton and Rue Funeral Home, where funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. with pastor Robert Chaffins officiating. Burial will be in Vale Cemetery.

 

Cindy McMaster

March 21, 1982 — March 22, 2016

Cindy Lynn McMaster, 34, of Pedro, passed away Tuesday, March 22, 2016, at Cabell Huntington Hospital in Huntington, West Virginia. The Lawrence County native was born March 21, 1982, a daughter of the late Harold ‘Huck’ Boggs and Linda Lou Depriest Boggs of Pedro. She is survived by her husband, Jason McMaster, whom she married Feb. 24, 2007.

Cindy was a 2000 graduate of Rock Hill High School, where she played basketball and softball. She was a homemaker and attended Symmes Valley Freewill Baptist Church.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Cynthia Lynn McMaster; paternal grandparents, Forrest (Kyle) Boggs and Cindy Boggs; a brother-in-law, Dennis McMaster; and maternal grandparents, Pastor Eddie and Catherine Depriest.

In addition to her mother and husband, she is survived by mother-in-law and father-in-law, Gracie (Denver) McMaster; five children, Scott (Sarah) Fortner, Chris (Sashe) Willis, Dora (Derek) Bruce, Nikki (Jesse Depriest) McMaster and Keith Boggs; four brothers, Todd Boggs, Tim Boggs, Travis (Amanda Nelson) Boggs and Tyler Boggs; two grandchildren, Courtney Lawrence and Olivia Lawrence; and two great-grandchildren, Levi and Sean Lawrence.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Phillips Funeral Home, Ironton, with the Rev. Jesse Sizemore and the Rev. Bob Bradley officiating. Roger Carrico

April 3, 1952 — March 22, 2016

Roger P. Carrico, 63, of South Point, passed away Tuesday, March 22, 2016, at King’s Daughters’ Medical Center, Ashland, Kentucky. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. today at Slack and Wallace Funeral Home, South Point with Dr. Scott Mann officiating. Burial will follow in Rome Cemetery, Proctorville. Roger was born April 3, 1952, in Huntington, West Virginia, a son of the late Paul Vernon Carrico and Leona Gillette Carrico. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Ellen Pack; and a brother, Paul Edward Carrico. He was a lineman for American Electric Power. Survivors include his wife, Cheryl Bragg Carrico; two children, Zachary Phillip Carrico and Brandi Lynne Carrico-Epperly; a sister, Carolyn Sue (George) Davis; a brother, Lowell Vernon (Sue) Carrico; five grandchildren, Tara Lynn Carrico, Alston Phillip Carrico, Madison Renee Epperly, Chase Phillip Carrico and Megan Nicole Epperly; a sister-in-law, Colleen Carrico; a brother-in-law, David Pack; and several nieces and nephews. Cleo Watson

The Rev. Cleo Watson, 89, of Scottown, died Tuesday, March 22, 2016, at The Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House, Huntington, West Virginia. He is survived by his wife, Delsie. Arrangements are pending at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville.

 

Freddie Sloan

Freddie Sloan, 78, of South Point, died Saturday, March 19, 2016, at King’s Daughters Medical Center, Ashland, Kentucky. There will be private family services at a later date. Juanita Donley

July 16, 1946 — March 22, 2016

Juanita “Edie” Donley, 69, of Pedro, passed away Tuesday, March 22, 2016 at the St. Mary’s Medical Center-Ironton Campus. The South Webster native was born July 16, 1946, a daughter of the late Floyd and Nora Smith Faulkner. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Everett Donley, who passed away Feb. 19, 1995.

Mrs. Donley attended school in South Webster, Ohio and was a homemaker. She enjoyed being outside, walking, fishing and gardening and was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Buck Greene, Raymond Greene, and Ken Faulkner; and two sisters, Bonnie Monroe and Norma Garrett.

She is survived by three daughters, Linda McFann of Ironton, Kim Donley and Tammy (Don) Mays, all of Pedro; a son, Glenn Joseph “Joe” Donley, of Pedro; a brother, Clarence (Bonnie) Faulkner, of South Webster; a sister, Evelyn (Glenn) Mullins, of Waverly; nine grandchildren, Brandy (Bill) Friend, Tiffany (Matt) Jenkins, Meghan Bayes, Josh (Heather) Donley, Samantha Lewis, Brittney (Kenny) Tennison, Heather (Mike) Johnson, Ashley Mays, and Donelle Mays; and a special great-grandson, Tristan Lewis and 13 other great-grandchildren

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Phillips Funeral Home with the Rev. John Baker officiating. Burial will follow in Olive Furnace Cemetery and visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Kenneth Lewis

Nov. 8, 1928 — March 22, 2016

Kenneth E. Lewis, age 87, passed away Tuesday, March 22, 2016, at Grant Medical Center in Columbus. Born Nov.8, 1928, in Coryville to the late Albert and Virgie Mae Lewis. Proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Retired from the National Mine Service Co. Survived by wife of 67 years, Dorothy A. Lewis; children, Daniel Lewis and Carol (Roy) Johnson; grandchildren, Kenneth, Kristina, Kylor, Jessica and Kourtney; numerous family members and friends. Funeral service will be Friday at 7 p.m. at the Tidd Family Funeral Home, 5265 Norwich St. in Hilliard, with visitation to begin at 6:30 p.m. Graveside committal will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Sugar Creek Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery, Ironton. In lieu of flowers, donations are encouraged to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Roger Lee Black, 50, of South Point, died Sunday, March 20, 2016, in Ashland, Kentucky. A graveside service will be at a later date at Union Hill Cemetery, Chesapeake.
