Event a CD release party for duo
Local Appalachian folk duo Wiley Dew, of Ashland, Kentucky, is releasing its newest CD, “Small Café,” an eclectic blend of 10 original songs and three cover tunes. Members Steve and Karen Byington said they’re excited to perform these songs live.
The song title, “Small Café” is based on some of their real life observances from many of the small cafés they have spent time in. Another song that reflects real life is “The Farm Song,” which is based on a family farm that was taken by the road project happening now in southern Ohio.
Many of the songs reflect the rural Appalachian folk flavor that Wiley Dew has been known for. The cover tunes on the CD include “Shady Grove,” You’ll Never Leave Harlan Alive” and “Summer Time.”
All songs were recorded at Rob McNurlin’s Buffalo Skinner Recording Studios. Wiley Dew’s special guests on the CD include Kim Johnson on banjo, Aaron Tatterson on slide guitar and Michelle Wallace, Jeff Ware and McNurlin on stand-up bass.
The CD release party is 7 p.m. Saturday at the RO-NA, 310 S. Third St., Ironton and free to the public.
Cake and beverages will be served.
