CHESAPEAKE — That’s what you call a pitcher’s duel.

South Point’s Abby Hannah and Chesapeake’s Brooke Webb locked up in a game of strikeouts as the Lady Pointers beat the Lady Panthers 3-2 in 10 innings on Friday in an Ohio Valley Conference game.

Hannah struck out 11 and did not walk a batter to get the win. Webb struck out 16 with two walks in taking the tough-luck loss.

“Brooke threw pretty well. Hannah threw a nice game for them. It was a tough game for anyone to lose,” said Lady Panthers’ coach Aaron Rice.

South Point went up 1-0 in the first when Allen was hit by a pitch and Emily Powell doubled.

Chesapeake took a 2-1 lead in the fifth.

Ryleigh Swann doubled to start the inning and Brianna Russell had a two-out RBI double. Kelsey Huff followed with a run-scoring single.

The Lady Pointers tied the game in the seventh when Allen doubled, Powell singled and Haley Rawlins had an RBI single.

In the 10th, Leah Lawson singled and went to second on an outfield error. She went to third on a sacrifice attempt and scored on Jamishua Anderson’s ground out.

On Monday, Rock Hill visits Chesapeake and South Point hosts Gallipolis.
