The Ironton Fighting Tigers found the confines of home a welcome site.

The Fighting Tigers’ tennis team got its first win of the season on Tuesday with a 3-2 victory over the Portsmouth Trojans.

Picking up wins were Ironton’s No. 1 singles player Mitchell Weisgarber, No. 2 player Corey Rawlins and the No. 1 doubles team of Brock Midkiff-Sands and Jaxson Pleasant.

Ironton’s No. 3 singles player Andrew McCown and the doubles team of Elena Wilson and Steven Scott suffered losses in their matches.

The Fighting Tigers host Portsmouth Notre Dame on Wednesday and Gallipolis on Thursday. Both matches begin at 4:30 p.m.
