CHESAPEAKE — Chesapeake Police Chief Dennis Gibson says he has been asked to resign from his position with the village.

Gibson said Chesapeake Mayor Tommy Templeton made the request last Tuesday, March 29.

“I feel I have done nothing wrong, and I have no plans to resign at this time,” he said.

Gibson said he has hired Warren Morford as his attorney on the matter.

The Chesapeake council had an executive session this week to deal with personnel issues. Gibson said a special meeting of the council, set for 7 p.m., Tuesday April 12, will address the situation.

Templeton could not be reached for comment Thursday.
