PROCTORVILLE — It wasn’t how many but how often.

The Fairland Dragons needed the hits to come quicker rather than often as they lost 4-0 to the Gallipolis Blue Devils on Wednesday in an Ohio Valley Conference game.

Fairland had nine hits but couldn’t bunch them together to score any runs.

‘They’re pretty sound. We didn’t play a bad game, we just couldn’t get the hit when we needed,” said Fairland coach Alex Beelen.

Hayden James took the loss. He struck out four, walked three and only three runs were earned.

Josh Faro got the win as he struck out seven and walked two.

The game was scoreless until Gallipolis got three runs in the fourth.

Eric Ward was hit by a pitch, Ryan Terry walked and John Stout doubled them home. Jeremy Brumfield singled home Stout.

The Blue Devils added a run in the seventh when Stout and Josh Davis walked, Matt Bailey was hit by a pitch and Anthony Sipple singled.

Fairland hosts Rock Hill on Friday in a league game.
