PORTSMOUTH — For the Rock Hill Redwomen, “Victory Lane” was synonymous with Jenna Lane.

Lane went 5-for-5 with three runs batted in to lead the Redwomen to a 13-1 Ohio Valley Conference win over the Portsmouth Lady Trojans on Tuesday.

“Obviously, Jenna had a big night. We had several kids step up with big at-bats,” said Rock Hill coach Sam Gue.

“Jill (Hairston) had an RBI single in the first to get us going and then Riann (Keating) hit the ball hard to left to clear the bases in the third and that came at a time in which we needed some momentum.”

Hairston not only went 3-5 at the plate with an RBI but pitched a five-hitter and struck out 12 while walking only two.

“Pitching and defense were solid again which has been a big strength to this point,” said Gue.

“We’re still a huge work in progress. We have to do the little things much better, especially on the offensive side. We have to have nine girls working together to limit big innings.”

Makenzi Harrah was 2-5 with an RBI as Rock Hill (9-0, 5-0) collected 14 hits.

Sharia Kearns was 2-3 with a triple for Portsmouth.

The game was tied 1-1 after the first inning but Rock Hill got three runs in the third inning on Keating three-run double.

Rock Hill then scored a pair of runs in the fourth, one in the fifth, two more in the sixth and capped the rout with four runs in the seventh.

On Wednesday, Rock Hill visits Ironton and Portsmouth travels to Gallipolis.
