Lady Fighting Tigers roll to easy victory

PROCTORVILLE — The bats were booming.

The Ironton Lady Fighting Tigers jumped out to an 11-0 lead early en route to a 15-0 Ohio Valley Conference win over the Fairland Lady Dragons on Wednesday.

Ironton (9-6) pounded out 14 hits led by Aley Carmon who was 3-4 with three runs batted in and Shay Cox who was 2-3 with a double and three RBIs.

Kenzie Cremeens was 2-3 with a triple, Kyle Barcus 2-4 with a double and Haylee Stevens 2-5 with a double and two RBIs.

Mollie Morris went 3-3 to lead Fairland.

Ironton went up 4-0 in the first inning.

Stevens singled, Cremmens walked, Carmon singled for a run, Ruthie Paholsky reached on an error, and Cox, Katie Burcham and Brooke Elswick all walked to force in runs.

A run scored in the second on a double by Barcus and hits by Cremeens and Carmon.

Ironton scored six times in the third.

Burcham singled and Elswick doubled, Zjaytayia Mize was hit by a pitch, Stevens doubled, Barcus and Cremeens singled, Paholsky was hit by a pitch and Cox had an RBI groundout.

The final four runs scored in the fifth.

Carmon singled, Paholsky walked, Cox doubled for a run, Burcham reached on an error to drive in a run and Mize had an RBI single.

Ironton hosts Coal Grove on Friday. Fairland visits Gallipolis on Thursday.
