OAK HILL — Logan Wade borrowed some whitewash from Huck Finn and Tom Sawyer.

But instead of painting the fence, Wade painted himself a three-hitter as the South Point Pointers whitewashed the Oak Hill Oaks 5-0 on Saturday.

Wade struck out seven and walked three in getting the complete game shutout win.

Douglas Shaffer and Chris Woodard each went 2-4 to lead the Pointers’ offense.

South Point took a 2-0 lead in the first. Woodard reached on an error and scored on Brandon Layne’s base hit. Layne moved up on the throw home and scored on Tanner Hall’s base hit.

The Pointers got a run in the fourth when Travis Dillon singled and Drew Adams reached on an error.

Hall walked and eventually scored when Jonathan Henline grounded out to make it 4-0 in the sixth.

Christian Pritchard got a bunt single to start the second and Shaffer and Woodard followed with base hits for the Pointers’ final run in the seventh.

Cody Swann took the loss. He struck out four and walked two.

Shane Spriggs went 2-2 for the Oaks.

South Point visits Portsmouth on Monday.
