GALLIPOLIS — Oh no, not a second time.

With apologies to The Beatles, the Coal Grove Hornets proved to be bad news for the second time this week for the Gallipolis Blue Angels.

After beating Gallipolis 9-7 on Monday, the Lady Hornets posted an 11-0 shutout on Thursday in an Ohio Valley Conference game.

Coal Grove had 16 hits with Lauren Crum going 4-for-4 including a grand slam home run.

Gracie Riley was 3-4 with a home run and two RBIs, Lauren Meyer 3-5 with a double, McKenzie Moore 3-4 with a double and Kasey Murphy drove in five runs.

Riley had a solo home run and Coal Grove scored four runs on four hits and three Gallipolis errors in the first inning.

Crum singled and Moore double to make it 5-0 in the third.

In the sixth, Meyer bunted for a hit, Riley singled and Murphy was safe on an error. Crum followed by unloading her grand slam.

The Lady Hornets added two runs in the seventh.

Delaney Napier singled, Emily Keeney walked, Meyer doubled home a run and Riley hit a sacrifice fly.

Murphy pitched a four-hitter to get the win as she struck out two and did not walk a batter.

Coal Grove visits South Point on Friday in a conference game.
