PINE GROVE — It might be tea for two, but with the Ladies Nine Hole Golf Association of the Ironton Country Club, it was tee for three.

Hostess Wanda Spears provided refreshments and then groups of threesomes teed-off on this Tuesday spring morning in a quest to shoot a different kind of birdies.

When the day’s golfing was done and the scorecards returned to Spears, she announced the event winners for the day during the weekly luncheon.

Winners were Georgia Williams and Margaret Donley winning two events while Betty Fraley and Rose Auble also won an event.

The ladies group recognized Roger Collins and expressed their appreciation for his work refurbishing the benches placed on the course as a memorial to deceased members.

The newly engraved plaques remind members of Lynn Rapp, Edna Waldo and Laura Sullivan who founded the Ladies Nine Hole Association. Other names can now be added.

It was announced that Frank Mullins will begin Couples Night on Friday, May 6, at 5 p.m. Two ladies, two men or a man and woman can join for nine holes for the evening. Persons are to bring an appetizer for beginning the evening.

The flower baskets will be filled by the Ladies Association.

The group also recognized the special upcoming event honoring Jerry Fields, an Ironton Country Club member along with his wife, Joyce, who is a member of the Nine Hole group.

Also, the Ringer Tournament will continue through the golf season.

Dora Carmon will be the hostess next week. Meetings continue to be at 9:30 a.m. at the course with golfing to begin at 10.

Members are reminded to watch for a time change in the near future.
