SOUTH POINT — Not only is she Kasey At The Bat, she’s Kasey On The Mound.

Kasey Murphy had two hits including a home run to go with two runs batted in while also pitching a six-hit shutout as the Coal Grove Lady Hornets blanked the South Point Lady Pointers 6-0 on Friday in an Ohio Valley Conference game.

Murphy struck out four and did not walk a batter to get the win.

Coal Grove got all the runs it needed with two in the top of the first inning.

Lauren Meyer and Gracie Riley singled to put runners on the corner. Murphy then lined a sacrifice fly to center.

Riley went to third on the fly ball and scored on Lauren Crum’s ground out.

The Lady Hornets got a run in the second on singles by Khylee Keaton, Shelby Zerkle and Meyer.

The lead went to 4-0 in the third when Murphy doubled, Crum walked and McKenzie Moore singled.

Coal Grove got a run in the fifth to lead 5-0.

Crum was hit by a pitch, Moore reached on a fielder’s choice and Keaton grounded out as Crum scored.

Murphy capped the scoring with a leadoff home run in the seventh inning.

On Monday, Coal Grove hosts Chesapeake and South Point visits Fairland.
