Falcons topple Pointers

MINFORD — The weather was dismal. It matched the game.

It was one of those days on Wednesday as the South Point Pointers fell to the Minford Falcons 15-1 in five innings.

Minford got eight of its 15 hits in the first inning to go along with four walks and two errors to score 12 runs.

Shawn Mersial and Matthew Gullett each went 3-4 to pace Minford’s offense. Kody Kennedy was 2-4, Ian Tolle and Jared Alley 2-4 each while Aron Alley and Eric Cook had doubles.

South Point had only four hits with Drew Adams going 2-2.

The Pointers got their only run in the second inning when Tanner Halls walked, Travis Dillon was hit by a pitch and Adams had an RBI single.

South Point is scheduled to play at Cross Lanes Christian on Thursday.
