A former Dollar General employee who helped in a robbery of the store was sentenced Wednesday in Lawrence County Common Pleas Court.

Janie Francis, 59, of 311 N. Sixth St., Ironton, originally pleaded guilty to counts of third-degree tampering with evidence and misdemeanor theft in February. She was to have been sentenced in March, but changed her plea to not guilty by reason of insanity.

On Wednesday in Judge D. Scott Bowling’s courtroom, the results of the woman’s mental evaluation was presented, which stated she was competent to stand trial and did not meet the criteria for an NGRI plea.
