PROCTORVILLE — It was tag team time for the South Point Pointers.

Chris Woodard and Douglas Shaffer teamed up to pitch a four-hitter and their teammates teamed up to score six runs on eight hits in a 6-1 Ohio Valley Conference win over the Fairland Dragons on Saturday.

South Point got all the runs it really needed in the top of the second.

Logan Wade, Brandon Layne, Drew Adams and Jonathan Henline all singled to make it 2-0.

Fairland got its run in the bottom of the second inning.

Tyler George and Eli Bowen singled but the Dragons grounded into two straight force plays. Austin Christian then reached on an error and Hayden James was safe on a fielder’s choice as the run score.

South Point added a run in the third when Christian Pritchard walked, stole second and Woodard reached on an error.

The Pointers made it 4-1 in the sixth as Woodard singled, stole second and third and came home when Tanner Hall was safe on an error.

The final two runs scored in the seventh inning.

Adams was hit by a pitch and Henline and Pritchard singled for a run. Shaffer had a base hit to score the final run.

On Wednesday, South Point hosts Crooksville and Fairland entertains River Valley in the Division III sectional tournament.
