Evelyn Miller

Evelyn Ruth Lyall Miller, 79, of Waterloo, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and sister, went to be with her Lord and Savior Monday, May 9, 2016, at Cabell Huntington Hospital, Huntington, West Virginia. The Waterloo native was born Nov. 27, 1936, the daughter of the late Mack Bower Lyall and Eva Irene Drummond Lyall Roberts. She is survived by her husband, James Edward Miller, whom she married Dec. 20, 1955.

Evelyn was a proud graduate of Waterloo High School. She was a dedicated employee of Waterloo Grade School, and the Symmes Valley Local School District, with over 33 years of service as a cook. Evelyn’s life service to her Lord and Savior included filling the church with music, a God given talent. She had no official training. Evelyn played piano, organ, guitar and accordion. She was a Sunday school teacher, youth leader, board member, church secretary, Bible School leader and long-standing member of McDaniel Crossroads Pentecostal Church. She dedicated her life to showing young people in the community the love of Christ, volunteering her time to the transportation of children to church services. She worked with the Waterloo Senior Citizens Committee for more than 25 years, serving the local community. She enjoyed gardening and preserving. She was a wonderful southern home cook. She was a beloved Granny to her grandchildren and a loved and dearly respected pillar of the community.

She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Raymond Lee Miller; a brother, Irvin Lee Lyall; a sister-in-law, Wilma Lyall; and two brothers-in-law, Carl Schug and Ivan Miller.

In addition to her husband, James E. Miller, of Waterloo, she is survived by a son, James Justin (Janie) Miller, of Vinton; granddaughters, Melissa (Trey) Kilpatrick, of Mt. Olive, North Carolina, and Heather Miller (Jason Hayes), of Wilmington, North Carolina; as well as the newest little sunshine of her life, great-granddaughter, Harper Ella Hayes, of Wilmington, North Carolina; grandsons, Brandon Unroe, Brett (Jessica) Unroe, of Vinton Ohio; great-grandchildren, Ethan Unroe, Karissa Unroe, La Marius Unroe, Lillionna Unroe, Brooke Unroe and Rylee Unroe, of Vinton; sisters, Helen Marie Miller, of Columbus, Norma Jean (Dick) Holbrook, of Newark, Shirley Mae (David) Wirth, of Pensacola, Florida; brother, Wayne Allen (Patty) Lyall, of Urbana; as well as a multitude of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at McDaniel Crossroads Pentecostal Church, Patriot. She will lie in state for one hour prior to the funeral service. Officiating the service will be pastor Mark Crawford, the Rev. David Henson, and the Rev. Mike Severt. Burial will follow at Flagsprings Cemetery. Dwight Moretto

Dwight T. Moretto, 36, of Ironton, passed away Sunday, May 8, 2016, at his residence. The Nuremberg, West Germany, native was born Sept. 10, 1979, a son of William F. Moretto, of Harlem, Georgia, and Teresa Ratliff Moretto, of Ironton.

Dwight was a 1998 graduate of Ironton High School and a U.S. Army veteran. Dwight was also a graduate of Northwestern College in Lima. He was a former boiler for AK Steel Coke Plant, was of the Baptist faith and a member of the VFW Post 8850.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Jerry Preston; maternal grandparents, Joann Stewart Ratliff and Emerson Ratliff; and paternal grandfather, Tom Moretto.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by a son, Blake Moretto, of Coal Grove; two brothers, Billy Moretto, of South Point and Andy Moretto, of Ironton; a sister, Melissa (Nobel) Bowman, of Louisa, Kentucky; paternal grandmother, Anita Moretto, of Columbus; two nieces, Joann (Andrew) Waldroff, of Virginia Beach, Virginia, and Merissa Bowman, of North Carolina; a nephew, Avery Bowman, of Louisa, Kentucky; two great-nephews, Zander Cotterman, of North Carolina, and Quinton Bowman, of Louisa, Kentucky; and aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Phillips Funeral Home with pastor Aaron Abner officiating. Burial will follow in Melvin Cemetery with military graveside rites by the VFW Post 8850. Rev. William Miller

The Rev. William Joe Miller, 73, of Kitts Hill, died Tuesday, May 10, 2016, at the Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland. Arrangements are pending at Brown Funeral Chapel in Ironton.

 

 

Roger Daniels

Roger D. Daniels, 60, of Greenup, Kentucky, died Sunday, May 8, 2016, at the Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland. He was cremated. Arrangements are by Brown Funeral Chapel in Ironton.
