Ironton boys’ basketball

camp June 6-7 is free

The Ironton Fighting Tigers’ boys’ basketball camp will celebrate its 10th anniversary by offering the camp free of charge.

The camp is for boys entering grades 2-6 as of fall 2016. The camp will be from 9 a.m. to noon Monday and Tuesday, June 6-7, at the Ironton High School. Two indoor courts plus outdoor courts will be utilized.

Each camper receives a cold drink each day and features guest speakers from the college and high school level. All phases of the game will be taught.

Every person will be placed on a team for game competition and everyone will participate at least 50 percent of the time in each game.

There will be an awards ceremony at the conclusion of the camp. Registration forms are available at all Ironton schools.

Girls’ youth basketball

camp set for June 6-9

The Ironton Lady Fighting Tigers’ will sponsor a youth basketball camp open to all girls regardless of their school district residence.

The camp is open to girls entering grades 3-9 as of the fall of 2016. All areas of the game will be covered.

Every person will be placed on a team for game competition and everyone will participate at least 50 percent of the time in each game.

The camp will be from 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, June 6-9, in the Ironton High School Conley Sports Center.

Each camper receives one cold beverage each day and a T-shirt at the end of the camp. There will be an awards ceremony at 3:10 p.m. the final day of camp.

A camp photo will be taken on Wednesday and available for purchase.

Chesapeake boys’ hoops

camps set June 1-3

The annual Chesapeake Panthers boys’ basketball camp will be at Chesapeake High School.

The boys’ camp for boys entering grades 3-6 as of the fall of 2016 will be held from 9-11:30 a.m. Wednesday through Friday, June 1-3, at the school.

The boys’ camp for grades 7-9 will be held from noon to 2:30 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, June 1-2.

Fee is $25. Drinks will be provided and each camper receives a T-shirt. Please list shirt size.

Registration forms are available at all Chesapeake schools. There will be registration at 8 a.m. on the first day of the camp.

Camp director is coach Ryan Davis and the staff is comprised of Panther coaches and former players.

 

 

 

Ironton boys’ basketball

shootout June 23-24

The sixth annual Ironton Fighting Tigers’ boys’ basketball Summer Shootout will be Thursday and Friday, June 23-24, at Ironton High School.

Fee is $120 per team for one day and $200 for both days. Checks may be made payable to: Ironton Tiger Clan, Ironton High School, c/o Mark LaFon, 1701 South 7th Street, Ironton, OH 45638

Starting time is 10 a.m. with adjustable times for teams traveling extended distances. Teams are guaranteed a minimum of four games.

Games will be played in the Conley Sports Center and the new high school gym, both located on the campus.

Overtime tournament if enough teams elect to play. Games will have certified OHSAA officials.

Warm-up basketball will be on each court with one ball per team. There will be a hospitality room for coaches and a concession stand will be available.

Youth basketball league

planned at First Baptist

The First Baptist Church Faith and Fitness Center is offering individual and small group workouts.

Workouts begin Tuesday, June 7, at the fitness center. There is a $10 donation per person. Here is the workout schedule:

9-10 a.m. — boys/girls in grades 3-5;

10-11 a.m. — girls in grades 6-9;

11 a.m. to noon — boys in grades 6-9;

1-2 p.m. — boys/girls in high school/college.

Chesapeake plans girls’

hoops shootout June 11

The Lady Peake Shootout for girls’ basketball teams will be Saturday, June 11, at Chesapeake High School and Middle School.

Four games are guaranteed for $150.
