SP’s 4×100 relay tops regional qualifiers

ROCKSPRINGS — Add another leg to the race.

Area track standouts extended their season on Saturday as they qualified for the Division II regional track meet.

The top four qualifiers in each event advance to the regional meet to be held Thursday and Saturday at Athens High School.

Leading the qualifiers were South Point’s Trent Patterson, Trey Patterson, Stephen Wagoner and Owen Chafin combined for a 44.55 time to win the 4×100-meter relay.

Ironton’s quartet of Eli Willis, Derek McCallister, Tyler Milleson and Jourdyn Barrow was sixth with a 46.68 clocking.

Trent Patterson was third in the 200 meters with a 23.66 time to advance. Chafin was sixth at 24.17.

The Pointers’ Cole Christian advanced as he threw the shot put 42-5.75 to place fourth.

In the 4×400 relay, Chris Tatlonghari, Cade Brandt, Gage Stephens and Trent Patterson were sixth at 3:41.08.

In the 110-meter hurdles, The Dragons’ Greg Keeney was fifth at 16.86 and Hunter Ashton was sixth at 17.34. Bryce Day was fifth in the 1600 at 4:39.26 but ran a 10:11.49 to finish third in the 3200 and advance to the regional meet.

Ashton did qualify in the high jump as he cleared 5-10 to place fourth.

In the girls’ 100-meter hurdles, the Lady Dragons’ Ciarra Brown was third at 17.36 seconds and Chesapeake’s Jaylynn Pine was fourth at 17.85.

Pine also qualified in the 100 meters as she placed second with a 13.47 clocking.

The Lady Dragons Melia Tubbs, Erin Hayden, Karli Fuller and Allie Marshall ran a 1:54.93 time to place fourth in the 4×200 relay.

Tori Hall, Tubbs, Hayden and Fuller combined in the 4×100 to finish fifth at 54.88 seconds. South Point’s quartet of Mallory Wells, Kylee Riggs, Selena Marcum and Lexie Sharp were eighth at 55.61.

Hall leaped 15-4.25 to finished fourth in the long jump.

Fairland’s Jackie Wagner was second in the discus with a toss of 110-05.

The Lady Dragons’ Haleigh Fuller was sixth in the 1600 meters with a 5:49.85 clocking. She was also seventh in the 3200 at 12:48.37.

Marshall was fifth in the 200 meters with a 29.08 time. Taylor Wilson, Lexi Eldridge, Brown and Marshall were a combined 4:39.86 to finish seventh in the 4×400 relay.

The Lady Panthers’ Haylee Pratt was fifth in the 400 meters at 1:04.09 and Kelly Romans was fifth in the pole vault at 8-feet. Fairland’s Julie Price was eighth in the pole vault at 7-feet.
