GETAWAY — A state legislator recently got a firsthand look at what goes on at Collins Career Center.

Sen. Joe Uecker, R – 14, visited the school on May 2 to take in what they have to offer students.

Jamie Chafin, who serves as director of post secondary organizations for Collins, said she had been visiting and working with Uecker for STEM projects at the school.

“He had not been to the campus before,” she said. “I asked him to come here. He spent his day with us, learned about our initiatives, took a tour and witnessed students doing hands-on work.”
