Hard work pays off for parade

The Ironton-Lawrence County Memorial Day Parade is a treasure to our community. The past 148 years should not be taken lightly. It has endured by hard and tireless work by many. We would like to thank and congratulate the parade committee for successfully bringing the tradition to our county another year.

The parade culminates the festivities but there are other activities that take place during this time. Most of us only see the parade. There are events, including the Past Grand Marshals’ Dinner, Navy Night and a memorial service at Woodland Cemetery to honor veterans. These all take hours of planning to make something so beautiful look so easy.

The Salyer family would like to thank those attending the activities and again thank the committee for making it possible. These efforts by Lawrence County volunteers make this a great place to live.
