Mario Citti

July 31, 1927 — June 2, 2016

Mario E. Citti, 88, of Ironton, passed away Thursday, June 2, 2016, at Wyngate Assisted Living in Proctorville. He was born July 31, 1927, in Portsmouth to the late Ernesto and Sandrina Cure Citti. He was also preceded in death by his loving wife of 67 years, Bonnie Joyce Gillum Citti in 2015.

Mario was the former owner of Citti Gateway Grocery Store and was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church. He was a Kentucky Colonel and enjoyed watching horse racing, college football and little league baseball.

He leaves behind a son, Michael (Terry) Citti, of Ironton; a daughter, Tanya (Jim) Riffe, of Charleston, South Carolina; two grandchildren, Alison (Jim) Aiello and Brian (Talley) Citti; and two great-grandchildren, Chase and Reese Citti.

Entombment will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Rose Hill Burial Park Mausoleum Chapel in Ashland, Kentucky with Father John P. Noe officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations and memorials may be made to Hospice of Huntington, P.O. Box 464, Huntington, WV 25709. Arrangements have been entrusted to Steen Funeral Homes.
