Janet Gore

Janet Rebecca Gore, 83, died Sunday June 19, 2016, at her home in South Point. The Ironton native was born Aug. 8, 1932, a daughter of the late Delbert Earl Wagner and Ada Lou Goodman. She attended West Ironton and Ironton schools. The family resided on Orchard Hollow and although they had tough times after her father passed away when she was 11, she often remarked how she enjoyed those days living at home.

Her dad named her after his mom and one of delivery Dr. Henninger’s two daughters and although her named wasn’t spelled the same it was pronounced as “Jeanette.”

On Nov. 17, 1953, she was united in marriage at Coal Grove to Madison Gore of Dog Fork. He passed away June 15, 1990.

Later in life she worked as a CNA at Pulley’s Nursing Home and Heartland of Riverview, where she retired in 1994. After her retirement, she attended the City Mission Church in Ironton where she also volunteered her time as a cook for hungry patrons and was affectionately known simply as “Granny.”

When she wasn’t working, she enjoyed reading mystery books, working crossword puzzles, watching game shows and crime dramas.
