A crowd enjoyed the sunny day on Saturday and kicked off the summer.

The Wyngate at RiversEdge hosted a Picnic on the Patio at the senior living community, treating residents, their families and the community to a free lunch of hamburgers, hotdogs, baked beans and more, while children played cornhole games.

Entertainment was provided by local musicians The Hill brothers, who performed song such as “Stuck in the Middle With You” by Stealers Wheel and “Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain” by Willie Nelson.

Zac Arrowood, the resident manager for the center, said the picnic, which they plan to do annually, was a great way to start the summer.

“It gives a chance for the community to experience what we have here,” he said.

He said the Wyngate has another get together planned for the community, themed around the upcoming Lawrence County Fair, on July 11.
