Construction underway on new, larger facility

PROCTORVILLE — Brickhouse Cardio Club is preparing to move to a new location in the village.

Owner Angie George said construction is under way, and crews recently put the roof on the new building, located at 520 State St., next to Stephens and Son Insurance in Proctorville.

“We’re very excited about it,” she said, adding that she expects to be able to open the new location in about six to eight weeks.

George, who is an instructor for Brickhouse’s fitness classes, is the second owner of the Proctorville franchise of the company, which she said opened in December 2013. The company has locations throughout the country.

She said the new location will offer a larger space, with up to 4,800 square feet, more than the current building, which hosts one fitness room.

“We’ve been limited in what we can do,” she said. “This opens up the door for us.”

She said the building will allow them to have an additional fitness room, as well as bathrooms, a changing area and a larger children’s room.

“We’ll be able to add new formats and additional exercise programs,” she said. “And we’ll be announcing that soon. We’re very excited to offer this to the community and have been blessed.”

George said she plans to host a grand opening to show off the new facility when it is complete, and she will announce plans as construction wraps up.
