SP senior league wins D-11 opener , 7-1

Douglas Shaffer pitched a two-hitter as the South Point Senior League All-Stars won their opening game of the District 11 tournament.

Shaffer fanned 11 and walked two as South Point beat Fairland 7-1.

South Point got a run in the first on hits by Dawson Runyon and Shaffer and Travis Dillon’s ground out.

South Point got four runs in the third inning to lead 5-0.

Shaffer walked, Wade, Dillon and Ben Walls all had hits, Brody Blackwell hit a sacrifice fly and Hunter Koukos reached on an error.

The lead went to 6-0 in the sixth when Shaffer was hit by a pitch, Wade singled and Walls and Blackwell walked.

The final run scored in the seventh when Drake McClure was hit by a pitch and Shaffer was safe on an error.

Fairland’s lone run came in the sixth when Adkins reached on an error and scored when Auxier was safe on an error.
