St. Joseph golf meeting

set for Wednesday

All students in grades 9-12 interested in playing golf for the St. Joseph High School team are asked to meet at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at the school.

Hornets’ basketball camp

scheduled for July 5-8

The Coal Grove Hornets youth basketball camp will be held from 9:30 a.m. to noon Tuesday through Friday, July 5-8, at the high school and middle school.

The camp is open to boys and girls in grades 1-8. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. on the first day of camp.

Fee is $30 per youth and each camper receives a T-shirt.

OHSAA prep volleyball

officiating class offered

The Ohio High School Athletic Association is offering a volleyball officiating class.

Anyone interested in becoming a volleyball official should contact instructor Jack Welz at (740) 533-4327 (work) or (740) 532-9415 (home).

Interested persons should go online on the OHSAA website to register before July 11. This year fees must be paid at the time of registration.

The first class is scheduled for Monday, July 11.

 

 

Ironton youth soccer

registrations set in July

The Ironton Area Youth Soccer Association registrations for the fall league will be at the Ironton City Center, 301 S. 3rd St., from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Saturdays, July 2, 9 and 16.

The league is for youths ages 4-to-12 with birthdays between Aug. 1, 2004, to July 31, 2012. Fee is $20 per youth and $15 for each additional sibling. There will be a $5 late fee assessed per player after July 16.

Teams will be for under age 6 (co-ed), under 8 (co-ed) and under age 10 and under 12 for boys and under age 10 and under age 12 for girls.

NOTE: Youths must be registered by a parent or legal guardian.

 

 

Jackson to hold annual

Freedom Fest 5K July 4

The 20th annual Jackson County Freedom Fest 5K Run And Walk will be held on Monday, July 4 and will be run through the business district and western residential section of Jackson.

The event will begin at 9 a.m. at Manpower Park on East Main Street, across from the Jackson Square Shopping Center and Krogers, 530 E. Main Street.

Entry fee is $20 for pre-registration at TriStateRacer.com and $25 the day of the race. Proceeds will go toward the sponsoring of community events by the Jackson Area Chamber Of Commerce.

All participating runners will receive newly-designed dry-weave Sports Festival T-shirts. The race will be timed by TriStateRacer.com and the course used has been certified.

Plaques will be awarded to the top three male and female finishers and medals will be given to the top three finishers in all age divisions, outside of those winning plaques, in both the male and female categories.

There will also be a one-mile walk starting simultaneously with the 5K Run. Those wishing to participate in the walk, which has no registration fee, may purchase a T-shirt for $10.
