After 10 years and 250,000 miles, Gregory Hudson has seen a lot during his world travels, from the canyons in Utah to the castles in England, capturing photos all along the way.

Hudson, a recent graduate of the New York Institute of Photography, has self-published a book showcasing these photos and imparting what he has learned about life during his travels.

Called “Through My Eyes,” Hudson said the book’s theme is about building character and overcoming challenges. The cover, a block of connected puzzle pieces, also has a special meaning.

“Every day of your life creates a new piece of the puzzle,” he said, which adds up to a bigger picture.

Hudson graduated from Chesapeake High School in 1982 and lives in Ironton. He said he has been taking photographs for more than 20 years as a “strong hobby,” he picked up from a friend.

“I picked up my camera and I saw things at different angles that people didn’t see,” Hudson said.

In addition to his book, which is available on Amazon and his website, www.gregoryhudsonphotography.smugmug.com, Hudson is also in the processes of getting his studio business off the ground.

Offering wedding photos, prom and senior portraits, pet portraits, sports teams and dance class photos, senior living sessions and other packages, Hudson can be reached at 606-615-4303.
