People for the Point to manage community center

SOUTH POINT — The nonprofit group People for the Point is set to take over management of the village of South Point’s community center in August.

“This was the best, most efficient and effective means to manage the property, ensure that it is well-maintained, kept clean and be an asset for the entire community,” South Point Mayor Jeff Gaskin said of the change in a news release. “The start date has been set for Aug. 1.

The center, located at 404 Second St. W., is used as a venue for family reunions, company outings, meetings, birthday parties and baby and bridal showers, and is equipped with air conditioning, chairs, tables, kitchen facilities and two restrooms.

Improvements are planned for the facility, including updated bathrooms, new matching tables and chairs, window replacement and interior painting.

Sherwin-Williams recently donated new exterior paint, including labor.
