Robert E. Jones

June 6, 1956 — July 20, 2016

Robert “Bob” Jones of Kempner, Texas, formerly of Ironton, went peacefully to be with the Lord on July 20, 2016. He was the son of the late Fern L. Cooper and Lonnie Carrico who preceded him in death. He is also preceded him in death by a sister, Mona Lisa Boyd.

He is survived by four daughters, Melissa A. Stone, of Ashland, Bobbi J. Jones, of Ironton, Crystal G Simpkins of Ironton and Stephanie M. King, of South Point; 10 grandchildren, Monica, Hannah, and Megan Stone, of Ashland, Dominic and Anatasha Coffman and Emily Jones, of Ironton, Ethan and Kiara Simpkins, of Ironton and Micah and Nathaniel King, of South Point; three special “sons” Jerry Pemberton, of Loganville, Georgia, Chuck Pemberton, of Ironton and Chris Pemberton, of Greenup, Kentucky; a dear nephew, Charles “Chase” Jones, of Kempner, Texas; three brothers he held a special bond with, Chuck Jones, of Ironton, Brian Cooper, of Ironton and Tony Cooper, of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. In addition, he had three brothers, all of Ironton, and three sisters, two of Ironton and one of Florida.

He was a great father, man, friend, and grandfather. He loved all outdoors and spent his life working hard. He will be missed terribly.

 

 

Mary Riley

May 23, 1921— July 22, 2016

Mary Elizabeth Gollihugh Riley, 95, passed away at her residence Friday, July 22, 2016.  She was born May 23, 1921, to Edgar and Clara Keese Gollihugh who preceded her in death.  She was also preceded in death by her husband Sable; four brothers, Charles, Lenvil, Howard and Jerry and four sisters, Doris Stevens, Marie Callender Otworth, Freda Gollihugh and Bernice Gaspers.

She is survived by two daughters, Shirley (Loren) Gleim and Patricia (James) Riggs all of Ironton. Other survivors include two sisters, Jean Bruce and Gertie Bragg, of Ironton, three grandchildren Russell (Pearlie), Barry Gleim and Christi (Scott) May; eight great grandchildren, Cassidy, Austin and Luke May, Nikki Gleim, Emily (John) Gambill, John Goodwin, Tomoro Harris and Lauren Gleim and one great, great grandchild, Collin Gleim.

Mary was known to most of her nieces and nephews as Granny Betts and she loved them as her own.  She was employed at The Smart Shop and Penny’s in Ironton and Steenbergen Turkey Farm, but to her the best job was taking care of her family and friends.  Her cooking was famous among those who sat at her table and many were welcomed there.

Funeral services will be 11a.m.Tuesday at Harrison-Pyles Funeral Home in Wheelersburg, Ohio with Roger Lavender officiating and interment to follow in Buckeye Cemetery.  The family will receive friends today from 6-8 p.m. and one hour before the service on Tuesday.  In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial contributions be made to Hospice, 1480 Central Avenue, Ashland, KY 41101

 

 

Wanda Martin

Jan. 22, 1930 — July 22, 2016

Wanda J. Martin, 86, of Ironton, passed away Friday, July 22, 2016 at Community Hospice Care Center, Ashland.

She was born Jan. 22, 1930, in Ironton, a daughter of the late Roy Edward Martin and Lillian Johnson Martin. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Roy “Ed” Martin. Wanda was a 30-year employee of the former Wilson Sporting Goods Co., Ironton.

She is survived by a brother, Gerald Martin, of Ironton; four nieces, Deanna Martin, of Ironton, Cindy Martin (Dave) Stanwick, of Columbus, DeeDee Martin Wallace, of Ironton and Holly Martin (Frankie) Orlando, of Las Vegas, Nevada; two nephews, Jim Martin of Ironton and Rick (Norma) Martin, of Ironton.

Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Highland Memorial Gardens, South Point with pastor Steve Harvey officiating. Burial will follow in the cemetery. Jack DeHart

Jack Lee DeHart, 62, of Proctorville, died Friday, July 22, 2016.

Funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Monday at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville with Dr. Kermit Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in Miller Memorial Gardens, Miller, Ohio.  Visitation will be held from 1-2 today at the funeral home. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.timeformemory.com/hall.

 

 

Jerry Blake

Jerry Dale Blake, 47, of Huntington, died Wednesday, July 20, 2016. He is survived by his wife Valerie Bragg Blake.

Funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville. Burial will follow in Woodmere Memorial Park, Huntington. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
