Hobert Lake

Oct. 31, 1944 — July 22, 2016

Hobert W. Lake, 71, of Ironton, passed away Friday, July 22, 2016, in Marion. He was born Oct. 31, 1944, in Wheelersburg, a son of Imogene Skaggs Lake, of Ironton, and the late Thomas Lake. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death in January 1984, by his wife, Mary M. Preston Lake, whom he married in 1967. He went on to marry Connie Roseberry and she preceded him in death in 2014. A sister, Doris Cooper also preceded him in death. Hobert retired after 28 years of service with the Whirlpool Corp., Marion. He was also a lifetime member of the Loyal Order of Moose, the AMVETS and the American Legion.

Survivors include his children, Terri (Dwight) Lohr and Hobert (Emily) Lake, Jr., all of Marion; step-children, Kevin Cox, of Marion, Mark Hawk, of Parkersburg, West Virginia, Davina (John) Bialecki, of West Mansfield, James (Lesley) Roseberry, of Ironton, Bobbi (Charlie) Reed, of Ironton, and Crystal (Jeff) Bentley, of Kitts Hill; brothers, Thomas (Marjorie) Lake, of Fostoria, and James Lake, of Marion; grandchildren, Paul Michael (Brandie) Smith, of Marion, Leslie Smith, of Marion, Devin (Cheyenne) Lake, serving in the Armed Forces in Dover, Delaware, and Darian Lake, of Marion; 16 step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; and a special great niece, Jaelyn Unrue.

Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Friday at Slack and Wallace Funeral Home, South Point. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service Friday. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the funeral home to assist the family with expenses. Condolences to the family may be expressed at www.slackandwallace.com.

 

Beverly Smith

Beverly P. Belville Smith, 58, of Ironton, peacefully passed at her home on Sunday, July 24, 2016, daughter of the late Lowell R. Belville, and her only brother preceded her, Richard F. Bellville. Survivors include her mother Joyce F. Belville; daughter, Jessica Sharrock; one special grandson, Owen M. S. Sharrock; fiancé, Curtis M. Clutters; and two stepdaughters, Megan and Mica Gumbert. Beverly will be greatly and sadly missed by her family and friends. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until noon today at O’ Keefe- Baker Funeral Home, with Leon Dalton officiating. Committal services will be held at the convenience of the family.

 

Carol Shears

Carol L. Jones Shears, 71, of Ironton died Friday, July 22, 2016.Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Phillips Funeral Home with Brother Gerald Ruggles officiating. Burial will follow in Mamre Cemetery and visitation will be Saturday from 1:00 PM until the time of the service at the funeral home. Deloris Craig, 77 of Ironton, died Monday, July 25, 2016 at a local health care center. Arrangements are pending at Phillips Funeral Home.
